That "unknown error 9" sounded familiar so I did a browser search on "macrium reflect unknown error code 9" (no quotes) and found the following which I hope might prove informative:

The first time that happened I dicked around a bit and finally got it to take the update and shortly after that, I discovered that the update/patch file was in my Temp folder. I find it irritating because more often than not, Reflect throws an error during the update process. You can't, for example, go to Macrium's website and find an option to download update(s)/patche(s) for whatever version of Reflect you are using. The above are basically the only way (at least that I've found) to update Reflect (this is with Reflect Free 6 but I found the same with the iteration of Reflect Free 7 I had installed at one point). Updating when you are in Reflect either via a "there's a new update" prompt or via Other Tasks > Check for Updates.
